While sitting here in my lazy boy tinkering around with the F-15 and F-16, I had a little moment of appreciation for this hobby. Maybe it’s the coffee kicking in, but it’s fun being a kid and pretending that these builds are Mach 1, streaking through the sky. I’m a dork, I know. All you model builders out there know what I’m talking about! It’s a great hobby to partake in and I am having fun.
So not much at all to report on here at the workbench with my back injury still limiting me on how much I can accomplish. The good news regarding my back is that I visited the chiropractor this morning and I am on the cusp of recovery. While I am not out of pain just yet, I do feel some relief. That relief is giving me a decent window to do a little work and I am seizing all my opportunities at this point.
Back to the builds now. Canopy installation went as well as I could have hoped. The fit looks pretty good so far. I also did some sanding on a pesky seam within the F-15’s nose section. This seam will be conquered! It has been a few rounds now and I will not give up. I thought I had it handled but noticed the slightest error so more filler was applied yesterday morning. Sometime tonight, I will hobble out to the garage to get some primer applied to each of the canopies to see where I need to add some filler. The landing gear and all the ordnance remain on my nagging priority list. I might try to tackle some of that tonight.

Hahaha! I’m glad I’m not the only one who likes to think of models as the real thing! I’m often picturing the little car I’m building flying around the banking at Brooklands

Glad to hear that you’re doing better! I just blew up my arm somehow (my right, of course) and the pain of even holding sandpaper is pretty extreme, so I might be a bit slow for a bit too.
I absolutely agree with you about the hobby! There’s not a model I make that I don’t “fly around the workbench” so to speak, and I love to envision them either in full burner, dogfighting, or partaking in other, more subject-appropriate actions (if they’re not planes). I build models because when I was a kid, I’d always want a “toy” (i.e. replica) of something I thought was cool. Turns out, there aren’t always toys of what I want, but there often are kits! So, now I CAN get a “toy” of it, and I even get the fun of building it. It’s like combining the best of getting a new toy with building Lego and doing colouring in a 3-D book of only awesome pictures. HOW, I ask, just HOW can you beat that?

Yikes! I hope your arm feels better soon! It becomes a major gut punch when you can’t perform the way you want to.
The joys of model building are vast. It seems like we all share the common bond of “playing” while we build.
